About Me

For years now I’ve worked from home as an IT consultant and had the news on in the background and find current affairs fascinating. It’s better than any soap you can watch on telly and better than some jumped up wanna be celebrity making more and more outrageous comments and videos in the vain chasing of likes and Internet quedos.

I am an undiagnosed autistic and see the world through a prism of rationality that I have found to serve me well in understanding how the world really works at least in so far as I understand it.

At work and in my private life I habitually take the devil’s advocate position. Doing so allows me to challenge someone’s position and force them to justify it. If they can justify their position with rational argument then I gain better understanding of their position and can adapt it and modify it as my own. In so doing I gain an ally as they see me climb down from my position under the weight of their argument. If they fail to justify their position then I may be able to change their position or at the very least improve my understanding of the issues. Either way I gain from the encounter and may help others to better understand their own opinions.

All this has meant that I have had many interesting conversations with very many people on lots of different topics. Many of these people have said that I would make a good prime minister or cult leader and many others have asked where my blog is as there are very few topics of substance that I don’t have a considered opinion about.

Thus I am setting out to blog my opinions because the world will be a better place if the opinions we hold are based on rational argument rather than dogmatic bias.

The picture is me just about to set of on a 4 day bikejor trek on the South Downs Way with my dog Gizmo.
